Fred Michael Amram was born on September 19, 1933 in Hannover, Germany. He earned his B.S. in 1956 from Syracuse University, his M.A. in 1959 and A.B.D. in 1961 from the University of Minnesota. Amram joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1965 as professor in General College. He also served as coordinator of speech-communications in General College from 1977-1984.
